Smart Linking of Proton and UTM

Proton and UTM today strengthened its  collaboration by signing a MoU which marks a significant milestone in strategic initiatives between the national car producer and UTM, a prestigious research university in engineering and technology.The first initiative involves the assignment of a professor from UTM on a full time basis in Proton for a period of two years to strengthen the research capabilities of Proton with the assistance of expert advice from UTM. Finance solution for Proton vendors

ALL Proton vendors can now opt for an Islamic supply chain financing programme from CIMB Group.The financial services provider signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Proton on the financing programme at the Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam last Tuesday.A similar MOU was also signed between CIMB Group and Perodua recently.The objective of the financing programme is to enable vendors to have better cash flow for their operations by closing the working capital gap from the cost of procuring raw materials to the final stage of payments by the automakers. MITSUBISHI Motors Malaysia (MMM) has kitted up its 4WD Pajero Sport GS sports utility vehicle (SUV) and Grandis multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with more features as standard.The new features for the Pajero include interior creature comforts such as automatic climate control, cruise control and a new 2-DIN LCD touch screen entertainment system with a built-in reverse camera. The Grandis on the other hand gets added safety features in the form of auto-leveling xenon headlamps, an automatic powered tailgate with remote opening and closing function, and keyless operation system. IT was 2009 and the price of petrol was RM2.70 per litre when this writer decided to move from four to two wheels as his daily transport.This meant losing the car's protective cover from the elements and ability to carry cargo in return for cheaper motoring cost and quicker traveling time through traffic.A rain coat served as protection from the elements but it was frequently taken by someone as it was only strapped to the bike. Honda gets MMER class win

AFTER 12 hours of gruelling racing in the 11th Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER), which concluded last weekend, the Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT) emerged as champions in the touring production class and finished eighth overall. Drivers Eddie Lew, Aaron Lim and Rueben Wong completed 281 laps in the Honda Civic Type R to score the team’s first class win since their Class A victory in 2007. Click here to read more.

Daihatsu and Hino synergy

A 1.5-litre Daihatsu Gran Max panel van is due to be launched here in December.The Gran Max panel van will have a petrol-powered DVVT (dynamic variable valve timing) engine and five-speed manual gearbox.Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd senior executive director Yoichi Shibaike said the panel van was produced in Indonesia and exported to Japan, where it is marketed as the Toyota Liteace.“We will also import the panel van from Indonesia.
