From Oct 9 to 11, local motor sport enthusiast and organiser J.P. Chin will be organising the country's first professionally organised hill climb meet called JPM Berjaya Hill Climb Time Challenge 2009.Hill climbing is a pulsating branch of motor sport in which drivers compete against the clock uphill.At the dawn of the 20th century, the motor car was not only a faster and more reliable mode of transport but a marvellous creation for those who crave and lust for speed.Motor racing was invented when two cars were within close proximity.Click here to read more.

Blindfold drive prior to AGM

The 12th Annual General Meeting of Kelab Volvo Klasik Malaysia (KVK) was held last month at Federal Auto Cars Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur. The morning AGM was preceded by a Blindfold Drive contest held in the parking compound of the company.  The Club members had to drive blindfolded through a short and simple obstacle course with the help of a passenger giving them directions.  15 cars participated in the event which required the co-pilot being precise with the navigational directions and the driver responding appropriately.Click here to read more.

Lovely as ever at 70

They don’t make cars as beautiful as they used to, and no car epitomises that statement than the car seen here. The 1939 Delahaye 165 Cabriolet by Figoni et Falaschi from the Peter Mullin Foundation of California, won the “Best of Show – European” at the recently concluded Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance, in Rochester, Michigan.Click here to read more.

Day of the Beetle

At the dawn of the 20th century, the motorcar hit the masses. In America, Henry Ford developed and churned out the Ford Model T while in the 1930's, Dr.Ferdinand Porsche impressed Adolf Hitler with his version of a low-cost people's car, the Volkswagen. He gambled on a beetle shaped design at a time when cars were tall,long and spindly. And the air-cooled rear automobile engine which powered the VW, which was quickly nicknamed the 'Beetle' was unheard of then.Click here to read more.

Weekend Warriors

The decade year old Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is scheduled for a major upgrade beginning next month. The baron South Track will soon have a permanent support paddock which means circuit officials would be able to organise two races simultaneously. The support paddock would also house a permanent control tower and a connecting bridge to the grandstand. Racing teams can look forward to a new line of garages which would be located around the vicinity of the circuit.Click here to read more.

Priceless and Matchless

There might still be quite a number of Matchless singles left and running in Malaysia but a 498cc twin Matchless Super Clubman or model G9 is a rarity indeed. This model was produced from 1948 to 1958. The bike in question is a 1952 model, belonging to renowned classic bike lover and restorer Vincent Kong from Selangor. He is known as the classic bike "walking directory" with most of the British classic bike technical details at his fingertips, if not all.Click here to read more.

Last Fling at Kinrara

  The setting was perfect for the big send-off - fine weather, a great selection of classics and a well planned itinerary for the 2009 Kinrara Classic Car Sprint & Gymkhana. The Malaysia and Singapore Vintage Car Register (MSVCR) had announced that this yearly calendar event would be held for the last time at the 60-year-old former British Military Hospital in Kinrara, Puchong. This "time-warp" zone which houses the remains of colonial architecture and structures has apparently been earmarked for development.Click here to read more.

MG Treasure Hunt

The MG Car Club of Malaysia will celebrate a Father's Day treasure hunt and car display at the Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya on June 14.The club, which has been in existence for 35 years, is still very much active and is kept afloat by its passionate and enthusiastic members.Last weekend, club president Datuk Shamshul Baharain Sulaiman announced the programme and thanked main sponsor Amcorp Mall for supporting the club's annual meet.Click here to read more.

Goodwood celebration of history

To celebrate all aspects of one's history does not only encompass the preservation of its values and identity but is also a step in the advancement and development of that particular community or nation. England is one nation which boasts a glorious history. The preservation of the Goodwood Race Circuit is a prime example of how the English strive to celebrate their past.
