Heritage rally

THE Badan Warisan Malaysia (The Heritage of Malaysia Trust) is having a heritage event, bringing together the magic of historic automobiles and the beauty of heritage buildings in Selangor. The Royal Selangor Heritage Car Rally is an automobile event that will also take participants to a series of historic buildings and sites in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on March 14. Kurnia to the rescue

IT has been more than a year since insurance companies in the country stopped offering third party motor insurance policies to owners of vehicles above 15 years of age. We have in the past highlighted the plight of old car owners and even received confirmation from Bank Negara last week that the motor insurance tariffs in relation to third party insurance policies would be adjusted in good time to enable the insurance companies to re-activate the issuance of such policies to the motoring public. Versatile Suzuki classics

SUZUKI, a name associated with cars and bikes, first started with motorcycle development. In the 1960s, it came out with various two-stroke motorcycles with engine capacity ranging from 50cc to 500cc.Some like the 250cc Suzuki Super Six became rather successful production bikes. THE 3rd Otoblitz International Classic Car Show 2009 was held in great style and finesse from Dec 23 to 27 in Jakarta last year.Living up to its reputation as the largest historic car show in Indonesia for three consecutive years, Organiser WAW Production came out with over 100 yesteryear automobiles with the theme "Unveiling the Classic Spirit".American classics took centre stage under the banner "The Great American All Stars" with the portrayal of the evolution of models from the beginning of the 20th century.     WE are at the end of the first decade in the 21st century and still very much dependent on the motorcar, a magnificent tool of transport created more than 100 years ago. Royal classics at I-City

LAST weekend, I-City - a purpose built MSC Malaysia cyber influenced commercial centre in Shah Alam - hosted an automobile show titled "The Royal Vintage Car Parade and Showcase 2009" to commemorate the 64th birthday of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor. Evergreen Jaguar Mark II

FIFTY years ago, two iconic British automobiles were presented to the motoring world. The tiny Mini Minor in August of 1959 and the elegant compact saloon from Jaguar called the Mark II in October. Both marques celebrate their golden anniversary this year and interestingly are among the most desirable of British classic cars today. The insatiable Datsun 240Z

In suffering defeat to the United States and its allies during the Second World War, little did the Japanese realise that in two decades they would conceptualise their dream of 'conquering' the globe - this time with their automotive ingenuity and technology. In 1969, Nissan Motors Ltd launched its 'rocket', a sporty coupe styled masterpiece called the Datsun 240Z to the world.
