Safety taken for a ride

I REFER to your editorial published on Jan 2.

My observations are:

1. That on several occasions along the North-South Highway and East-West Highway, it was not 80/90km/h as stipulated but instead was 110/120km/h for the buses.

2. That the double decker buses are not fit for long distanace travel specifically on winding roads due to its narrow width and above normal height which impede safe handling on the road.

There is nothing wrong with the double decker buses for city tours or shuttles but they should not be for long distance travel.

I urge the Commercial Vehicles and Licensing Board to implement good governance practices for the sake of public safety.
