Inspection for two Honda models

HONDA Malaysia has assured customers that its current selling car models are not affected by the recent recall of the City (2008 year model) and Jazz 1.4-litre (2003 year model) in the United States, Britain, Canada, South Africa and Ireland.

The recall was due to possible failure of the power window master switch.

As of today, there were no faulty cases reported in Malaysia.

“For our customers, we will carry out the necessary inspection when the replacement parts are ready. All charges incurred in the inspection and replacement work will be borne by us,” said Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Toru Takahashi (picture).

Toyotas here not affected

UMW Toyota Sdn Bhd has confirmed that all Toyota and Lexus cars sold by the company are not affected by the recall exercise of eight Toyota models in America regarding faulty accelerator pedal components.  

The company said the components used in the accelerator pedal of the affected models in America are different from the Toyota and Lexus cars sold here. 

Sime Darby in Porsche takeover

SIME Darby will soon be the sole and exclusive importer of Porsche cars in Malaysia.

The agreement between Porsche Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and Sime Darby also outlined the sales, marketing and after-sales service for Porsche cars in Malaysia.

Sime Darby also has the right to appoint dealers and service centres.

Sime Darby is expected to officially take on this responsibility from Jaseri Automotive Group Sdn Bhd by April.

Porsche Centre Glenmarie in Shah Alam will remain as the base for the marque.
